Provenance:
These audio tapes were produced in the Center audio labe 14 May 1990
by audio archivist Bruce Nemerov and his assistant Timothy Roberts. The
photographs were taken by Center director Paul Wells.
Scope and Content:
These audio tapes include performances by and an interview with black
blues harmonica player William Howse and blues guitarist Jack Pearson.
Among the subjects covered in the interview are Pearson's interest in blues,
"country harp" playing, Sonny Boy Williamson, differences in techniques
when playing with their band "The Nationals" and when playing as a duo,
and the band itself and its performance requirements. Interspersed with
this conversation are performances of blues songs by Howse (harmonica,
vocals) and Pearson (guitar).
Also photographs of Howse, Pearson and producer/interviewer Bruce Nemerov.
