Scope and Content:

This is an open group to which are added audio and video tapes and other materials generated by lectures by or about individuals and groups associated with American vernacular music when such lectures are not part of a larger Center project (e.g. Tennessee Banjo Institute). This group also includes single lectures by\about similar individuals donated to the Center.
 

There follows a copy of the flyer or other promotional material and/or a log generated by staff of the Center audio archives These descriptive materials are arranged alphabetically by the last name of the lecturer.
 

Location:

Audio and video tapes are filed by tape number with other archival audio visual materials. Original copies of the flyers and related materials are located in the subject vertical file under "Middle Tennessee State University. Center for Popular music." Photographs related to the lectures are filed under the same heading in the subject photograph file.

A widely-published writer, Green is the author of Only A Miner: Studies in Recorded Coal-Mining Songs.

Three analog audio cassette tapes of a two hour lecture "An Australian Rock Sound? The Evolution of Australian Music Since the Late 1970s" by Jon Fitzgerald, Senior Lecturer in the Centre for Contemporary Music at the University of New England, Northern Rivers, Lismore, Australia. This lecture was give 12 Novemer 1992 at Middle Tennessee State University, Murfreesboro TN. The first two tapes (TCA-0168A/B) are the lecture with embedded musical examples and the question and answer session which followed the lecture. The third tape (TCA-0168C) is a copy of Fitzgerald's tape of musical examples which he used during the lecture.
