BENSON, LAURENCE 90-060
INTERVIEW
A Nashville
native and graphic artist, Benson spent many years listening to live jazz music
and collecting records in his spare time. His collection of 885 LP, 142 45 rpm, and 1640 78 rpm recordings, donated
to CPM, represents interests in early traditional jazz, pre- and post-war swing
music, traditional jazz revival movements, and mid-century American popular
song. This interview conducted by MTSU public relations writer Tom Tozer and
CPM archivist David Jellema, explores some of Benson’s interests and highlights
from his life.
